High Ozone Shock Treatments are very effective for removing stubborn odors like smoke, mold, and animal odors. It is useful to "blow out" an unoccupied room with a large amount of ozone to kill many of the odors and germs that may be present.  This is completely different  from the use of ozone for low level air purifying.  Air Purifying is usually done with the ozone level set very low when people are present.

High Ozone Shock Treatments are only to be done in rooms when no people, animals, or plants are present.  This is because a high toxic level of ozone is needed to kill the germs, mold, and viruses present in the room. 

The ONLY way to truly sterilize an area of mold, bacteria, or serious odors is with these very high levels of ozone.  You cannot totally "sterilize" of mold with lower air purification levels of ozone.

You may have seen many low output ozone generators or ionizers advertised TV or radio that claim kill mold.
While these types of machines may kill SOME airborne mold spores they cannot possibly sterilize a room of bacteria and mold, and have little or no effect on surface mold and bacteria.

Sterilizing areas of mold and bacteria can ONLY be accomplished with levels of ozone Far Above that which we could normally stand to breathe.

This statement is not simply conjecture on our part, it is scientific fact.
This can be proven by ozone / bacterial / mold killing studies where several prominent universities and labs have proven this fact beyond a reasonable doubt.

Covering up a mold odor with an ionizer or low level ozone generator is NOT the same as actually killing a great deal of the mold present in a room. 

In fact we believe that low output ionizers and ozone generators are actually worse to use because they give the user a false sense of security because some of the mold odor has been covered up.

However since only the mold odor has been temporarily covered up, and the majority of the toxic mold is still alive, we believe this is a more dangerous situation than not using these cheap gimmick items to begin with.

The idea is to kill as much mold and bacteria as possible with High ozone Shock Treatments BEFORE using ozone at safe low air purification levels.

We are sometimes asked whether these high ozone treatments are safe. 

They are safe because they are ONLY to be performed when rooms have been evacuated of any living beings.

The user simply turns the machine up to it's maximum ozone output, sets the countdown timer and vacates the area.

Any warnings you have seen against the overuse of ozone in an OCCUPIED space
do not apply when performing High Ozone Shock Treatments because they are ONLY done in UNOCCUPIED areas.

Ozone is the strongest available sterlilant known to man, yet it is safe because it is made up completely of simple Oxygen, and completely reverts back to Oxygen in a relatively short time.

That's one of the best features of ozone. It can be very toxic at high levels, which you must by definition of the word have to kill something, and yet have the ability to revert completely back to a completely non toxic state very quickly. Because of these amazing qualities ozone may be the safest, yet most powerful bactericides available.

Fungicides are great and do kill mold, yet they remain leaving toxic substances around your home.
While their strength diminishes it takes a very long time for them to completely vanish.

Aged fungicides don't have enough toxicity left to kill any remaining mold, and they can't prevent it from coming back.
In other words you will still have toxic chemicals in your home, and  they are doing little or nothing to prevent the mold from returning, yet these toxic substances could still be entering your body.

When you use a fungicide it's not as strong as when using the proper amount of ozone to kill the bacteria, yet it is more toxic to us because it remains long after it is used.

Imagine a gas like ozone that is made up of something we depend upon life to breathe, being able to be concentrated to very high toxic levels that can kill any bacteria, virus, or mold known to man, that reverts completely back to it's non toxic form in a short time. Ozone is truly a miracle.

Ozone is the way nature purifies the earth, and truly one of God's greatest gifts to man.

High Ozone Shock Treatments are done with the unit run at full power for a measured period of time in an unoccupied room. The more ozone you blast into an unoccupied room them more mold or bacteria you are likely to kill. These treatments are safe because once again, they are only done in unoccupied rooms. 

You simply turn the unit up to it's maximum capacity of ozone output, set the countdown timer, and leave the room.  You can then return to the area an hour or more after the unit's timer has shut the machine down all the ozone will have reverted back to simple oxygen by then.

These high ozone treatments are what kill mold and bacteria, not the low levels used for air purification.
 

If the function is to use a machine for both Air Purifying and High Ozone Shock Treatments then the XT-800 is the largest machine that can be used. It can blast out normal sized rooms with light to medium contamination's. The advantage to using it is that it can be used both as a high ozone shock machine and a low ozone level air purifying machine. The question is, is this machine enough for your particular problem?

If serious mold killing, and bacterial sterilization is desired an XT-2000, XT-4000, or better yet an XT-6000 is recommended. We don't normally like to give out square footage ratings because the contamination level, as well as many other factors may be different in any particular situation. As a rough guide for serious situation we like to recommend the XT-2000 for a 20 X 20 foot room, and XT-4000 for a 30 X 30 foot room, and an XT-6000 for a 40 X 40 foot room.

These numbers are only a BASIC guide. They do not hold true for every situation.
There is no reason you could not use the XT-6000 in a 20 X 20 room, and you would be definitely be better off in doing so.

More bacteria and mold will be killed in a faster period of time. If the mold infestation is serious simply running an XT-2000 will never achieve the same ozone level as an XT-6000, and therefore not work as well as the XT-6000.

If mold, odor, or bacterial contamination is really bad the XT-14000 or XT-28000 may be needed. These are the machines professionals, as well as homeowners use. These Heavy Duty ozone generators have no equal.   Using patented ozone elements that are far superior than standard ozone "plates" made up of  glass, mica, or ceramic these units have become the  industry standard of ozone generators. These machines have the power to blow out large basements, even a half a house at a time when needed. They can sterilize air ducts that have been infected with mold by simply firing them into the return air register. They both have 24 hour timers for the most serious contamination's.

It is very important to size the right ozone generator for the job.

It is important to note that to kill mold, bacteria, and to remove strong odors as much ozone as possible should be introduced into the area. 

High ozone treatments should be performed room by room as to get the ozone concentration as high as possible. Trying to treat an entire house at once will not yield a very high concentration and thus not do a very good job.

Running a smaller machine for a longer period of time is not the same as using a more powerful machine. 
This is because the ozone is constantly breaking down, and reverting back to oxygen.

Specific ozone concentration levels must be achieved in an area to kill bacteria and mold. 
If the ozone level is not at these required levels the bacteria may never be killed. 

Smaller machines run, even for many hours longer than larger ones, cannot "catch up" with the disintegrating ozone, and therefore never achieve the required ozone levels needed for a high kill ratio. An XT-4000 run for one hour will have a higher kill rate than an XT-2000 run for two hours.

For strong odors, and to kill mold and bacteria using as strong a machine as possible is recommended. of course the XT-6000 is usually the recommended machine for this type of job.

Many times the shock treatment will be enough to freshen the room and the ozone need not be on when the room is occupied. Some individuals are sensitive to even low levels of ozone and
High Ozone Shock Treatments are the best method for them to use ozone for great benefit when they are not in the room. The effects of the ozone will continue to last even after the generator is turned off.

High Ozone Shock Treatments MUST be used to remove mold odors, kill mold spores, viri, bacteria, and severe odors such as smoke, or pet odors.

These treatments may need to be repeated if the odors persist.

There is no standard formula for how long or how much ozone to use for a shock treatment. 
Every situation is different, so the user must adjust his machine, and set the treatment time for their own particular situation.

It is always recommended to use as large a machine as possible for mold and bacterial problems.

We repeat this information because of it's extreme importance.

A ozone shock treatment procedure is recommended to eliminate odor contamination and provide continuous control over recurring contamination with ozone. 

Choose a size of ozone generator recommended for the contaminated area.

A fan may be placed throughout the area being treated to provide good ozone distribution. 

Point the ozone generator it in the direction of the problem area. 
Operate the unit at it's highest capacity for as long as it takes to eliminate the odor problem. Treatments of 30-120 minutes are recommended to initially treat odors.

Odors absorbed in furniture, walls, and bedding may take longer to treat since these are porous materials that tend to hold in the odors.
When the high ozone shock treatment is completed air the room out if possible and/or don't enter it for about an hour.
If odors continue place the ozone generator permanently in the area operating at a low level.

Severe cases may require a 24 + hour treatment. Milder cases may need a smaller unit or use of a lower output setting.

NOTE: While performing a high ozone shock treatment, make sure that all people, pets, plants and other animals are removed from the area to be treated. Also make sure that the ozone does not leak into connected or occupied rooms by way of furnace vents or wall cracks etc.

The big question on everyone's mind is how to control mold. Mold odors an live mold spores require the largest ozone generators available to properly do the job. If a mold situation is really bad in a basement an XT-6000 generator may be recommended. Using the maximum amount of ozone is always the best way to kill and control mold. 

It is recommended you remove all visible mold with a solution of bleach and water. Using a series  High Ozone Shock Treatments before, during, and after mold removal is recommended. These treatments help kill live mold spores and help prevent the mold from returning.

A room completely cleaned of mold may develop mold again since mold likes to grow where it once lived before. That's why it's important to own an ozone generator to be able to perform periodic high ozone treatments to continue to battle the mold problem.
